…it means something. But what? A good cat-owned person should know. But if you’re clueless, find out at the Infinite Cat Project site. Also read lots of other cat tales.

when I was little I was told it means “peace” – like a greeting, “I won’t harm you, don’t worry” (ya, they DO think they rule the world, dont they! yet we love them :) )
Actually in Arabic and Hebrew people also say “peace” as hello. So why shouldn’t a cat?

  • Dina says:

Oh that brings back childhood memories!
I tried it out often, blinking at cats, which caused them to approach me immediately with the tail high up in the air in most cases.

It is still fun to play the “cat whisperer” with people who are not aware of this simple message (“oh don’t bother.. my cat never approaches strangers.. what the….???!!!??” :) )

  • Mala says:

It means exactly that – peace, dude. And I can’t wait till I meet a cat to try it out. Big, prominent blink!

  • Mala says:

OK, I tried it out but this cat was so super friendly to begin with she just rolled over in ball on my foot and rubbed her head all over my toes. Crazy cat.

  • Dina says:

haha she was love sick anyway, no need for peace signals :)

  • Mala says:

Dina, how many dances do you want to learn? :-)

  • Dina says:

The line dance? haha not seriously in the years to come I think.
Except for if I ever get to a Texan village. I like to adapt to the locals :)
