I hope that means what I think it means in Spanish — those eyes  But one look and you know what I mean. I found some photos of Kali and although this one is a low res version, you can see how exceptioally beautiful she is.  You can also see her special personality shining through. Kali doesn’t have the usual catitude that you can see in her kitten (henceforth to be named Bad-Cat). But she’s anything but a pushover. Kali has a powerful self-esteem and dignity that’s all her own. Of course, I have seen that dignity evaporate in a huge hurry upon the availabity of chicken liver, but we’ll let that go. Only once did I really feel embarassed for her and that’s when she stood up on her two hind paws in the desperation to get to that chicken liver. I cringe to think of it, but I’m sure she didn’t mean it.

At this point it would be right and proper to bring in Kali’s real looker-afterer. That would be Prasanto’s mother. For the past ten years, she has unfailingly made sure Kali got her food, no matter what time she turned up. Through illness and summer heat and Delhi winter and pouring rain — Prasanto’s mom always had Kali’s food nice and ready. And that, is probably why Kali has looked so very beautiful for so many years.

How can you ask me to go? The how-could-you look is for Prasanto, who said she could NOT have her kittens in his cupboard. But I think you can see she loves him all the same.
