they look interesting indeed! i wonder if they will be for advanced dancers mostly? they look quite challenging and jazz/modern infused (which i have never ever done unfortunately)..
I’m one of the dancers in both DVDs. The combos are challenging, and we assume that there’s some level of dance experience, especially since there are layering movements (I don’t remember which ones, specifically).
Hey, how nice to have one of the fabulous Solstice Ensemble dancers here! The DVDs look challenging. Good thing too. Do these combos add up to a choreography?
It’s been quite a while since those DVDs were filmed, but last I recall we just did each element without putting it all together. The combos are in specific pieces of choreography. You’ll definitely see all the Lunar combos in my duet with Sera. I think the intention wasn’t so much of learning a specific choreography to do at home, but rather here’s an example of elements you can use to create your own choreography.
The meditation is in both DVDs. I think it’s a very big part of our study in East Coast Tribal. I understand that it’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s fine. I love doing it, personally. I am also on the second DVD. I’m one of the main 4 of Solstice, the tall black woman.
Oh, I quite liked the meditation. I like that it’s not over the top with faked messages and that it really makes you focus on your own empowerment, creativity and energy. It’s very easy to get quite carried away with this sort of stuff and end up with something all forced godessy. This strikes the right note. Can’t wait to see more on the Lunar and Solar.
That’s what I love about the meditation as well. We don’t actively seek to remove the goddess-y elements from it, but it is more important to focus on the self. It was really fun to make the DVDs. You’ll enjoy it.
Ah..it’ll take about a month for it to get to me. But will share my reactions as soon as I see it. I think I’ll go a round of that movement meditation today. I need some calming. Am not able to focus on any of the things I need to do.

They do look good. Actually I don’t know too much about these. They look like major dance conditioning related stuff — not just for tribal fusion.
Howdy,

Well, I’m looking forward to it. Them, rather.
I am too.
It was so much fun to work on both DVDs, and I love the inspiration behind it (not saying that as a shameless plug).
Does it have a spiritual/meditative aspect like the movement meditation on the second East Coast Tribal video? Are you on that DVD too?

Ah, now I know you.
