The lively song, Tales of the Sahara by Ibsan el Munzer from the Bellydance Superstars Vol 3, seems to have been made for a group dance. It’s pretty and full of varying tempos. Shaia Farid has an equally lively choreography set to this piece of music. And she shares it with other dancers. Here it is

Thank you, Shaia! It actually looks quite understandable for a dancer at my level. I wonder what modifications one would have to make to use it as a solo piece. What is the Khaleegy step?
Thank you Shaia!!!
Group choreography sounds great!! I’d love to see it “in action”!
Also the notes are great! easy to understand.
I’ll be playing the song visualizing the choreo all afternoon I guess
Hmm trying to figure out what table top arms are? like carrying something above the head?
This term refers to the position in which the arms are held out to sides at about low chest level, palms facing floor. Can have a slightt bend in elbows, or elbows rotated up and back, according to style preference.
Thank you, Dina! Hopefully, my troupe will perform it well, and when my videographer has put the finishing touches on the DVD from my May 30 show featuring Aradia, I can post “Tales of the Sahara” here.
Shaia
Hi Mala,
You could still use the triple step as an entrance if soloing. The Khaleegi steps that I mention are this:
2:28:
1) L hand at L hip, R arm raised palm out, gently pushing away from the face and toward the face (with a bit of a hand undulation) and a rocking/bouncing step forward and back in a R circle around yourself, 8 counts
2) Arms overhead, palms facing one another, step-touch R/L, etc. as arms follow waving R/L. There is a bit of a head waggle as well.
When this part repeats (3:13), 1) has the same step, but R arm is extended, palm down. L hand rests atop R arm, just below elbow (toward hand). R palm does a bit of a waggle. 2) is the same as before.
Here are two youtube khaleegy videos:
