Great minds DO think alike! “Chaiyya Chaiyya” drives me as crazy as “Darban Jooth Na Boley” (sp.)!! I wish Sharon Kihara has chosen another song for the combos. And while I’m ranting about music, I also found the “song” that Darshan uses in the conditioning section of her dvd to be completely annoying. The only way I can work with it, is with the sound OFF.
BTW, I still haven’t made it all the way through Fantasy Bellydance yet. I got distracted by “Lovely” and “Opulent Moves”. These days, I seem to have the attention span of a goldfish…

Thank you Joy! I too have made it only halfway through the DVD and have more performances to write about including some biggies like Sarah’s and Blanca’s. But then I got distracted by all the exercising I’ve been doing. In fact, I’ll have to re-familiarize myself with dancing all over again!

Oh, yes, that song is awful. I’m not awfully fond of Bollywood songs, so faked Bollywood songs are even worse. Another one I hate is the one Sharon Kihara uses on her tribal DVD (Chaiyya Chaiyya). Spoils a totally beautiful set of combinations, if you ask me!

Thank you, Mala, for taking the time to detail each performance on Fantasy Bellydance. That is quite a task to undertake! I absolutely LOVE your detailed breakdown of each performance. You have a gift for finding and beautifully describing the nuances in each dance!
I’ve only made it about half way through the dvd but, so far, I like what I see. Admittedly, some of the dances are not exactly my cup of tea – espcially that Android thingy – but it is still interesting to see so many varying styles and all the fabulous costumes.
Funny, until I read your review, I thought I was the only person on Earth that doesn’t like the song “Darban Jooth Na Boley”. For some reason, that number seriously grates on my nerves! My old dance troupe used it in one routine and practicing to it almost drove me nuts.
